What is an electuary?
It's an ancient word for an old-fashioned remedy that still has wildly practical use in today's modern world. The herbal electuary, a potent & delightfully palatable potion of raw honey and powdered herbs, is an incredibly versatile, simple, & highly accessible way to incorporate medicinal herbs into your every day.
Electuaries are a simple way to reconnect with the medicine you need in a delicious way that also has the added benefits of raw honey. Raw honey is a mix of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, iron, zinc, and antioxidants. Raw honey is naturally anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Stir a spoonful of my handcrafted herbal honey into hot water to make tea, eat it off the spoon, slather some on toast, add a dollop to oatmeal… the possibilities are endless!
SUMAC-ADE: Red Sumac Berries were used by Native Americans to flavor tart beverages. Steep the buds in water, add a little sugar, and you have “Sumac-ade,” a popular American drink that was once marketed at traveling carnivals as pink lemonade! I have blended the Red Sumac Berry powder with Lemon Verbena & Orange Peel powders. The flavor is sweet, tart, fruity and reminiscent of lemonade.
Red Sumac Berries (NOT the poisonous species! This is Staghorn variety, a medicinal species): helps to reduce inflammation, lower blood sugar, improve iron stores, helps reduce symptoms of cold & flu, aids in liver health, helps reduce menstrual discomforts, and it’s high in vitamin C and malic acid. It contains both oleic and linoleic acids which support heart health and hormonal systems. Sumac is also high in antioxidants and may help alleviate allergy symptoms.
Lemon Verbena: provides a number of amazing health-enhancing benefits - Protects muscles, reduces fevers, calms nerves & tension, congestion, nausea, bloating, stomach cramping, arthritis, injuries, stress, anxiety...
Orange Peel: It directs the partnering herbs' movement by binding to bitter receptor points and moving herbs quickly around the body ("driving" the medicine far into the body). The bitter compounds, like tannins and organic citric or malic acids move throughout our lymphatic systems. It is high in Vitamin C.
Ingredients: Raw Wildflower Honey, Red Sumac Berries, Lemon Verbena, Orange Peel.
All herbs/berries are organic or wild foraged and freshly powdered for each batch by me.

________
Color may vary each batch. If settling occurs simply stir to re-combine the herbs & honey. Crystallization may occur. Crystallized honey still contains the flavor and health benefits but has simply changed texture. In hot weather honey will become more runny, please use caution opening your jar in warmer months. Store in a cool, dark, moisture free place. Use within 12 months of purchase for best potency.

I had never heard of an electuary until Stacey began offering these. Love all things sumac and this is beyond delicious! Such a fun way to get your vitamin C.
Wow! This is delicious! It tastes like a lemon, candy, herbal treat! The texture is really nice too, it’s blended so well. I just received it today and have already enjoyed it just off a spoon. Thank you!
